Glossary of ski maintenance and repairs
Waxing
This action will allow you to have a good glide. Waxing consists of a hot application of a special paraffin to optimize the creation of a micro-film of water between the sole and the snow to facilitate and improve gliding. At the beginning or end of the season, waxing may not be accompanied by scraping to leave the layer of wax on the base and protect it against the impurities of the snow at the start of the season. Remember to clean the sole thoroughly with a brush before the next ski maintenance.
Sharpening
A ski has two edges going from tip to tail. These metal edges are essential to feel confident on hard snow. It is necessary to sharpen them regularly in order to have a good grip and better maneuverability on snow or ice.
Overmolding
This operation consists of filling holes and scratches in order to find a perfect sole. The skis are machine and returned to their original state.
Structure
This consists of creating a micro-structure in the sole of the skis in order to facilitate the rapid evacuation of the snow transformed into water when skiing or snowboarding.
